Job Summary
Mental health services in Manchester are commencing their journey around Community Transformation, working towards a new community mental health framework vision for a place-based community mental health model.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse post within our North Manchester Specialist Community Mental Health Teams based in our exciting new and modern base at the Central Park Hub.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong clinical skills who is enthusiastic and motivated to support our Specialist CMHTs with the aim of delivering safe, effective and high-quality services to our service users.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse who will relish working within the vibrant and challenging environment of Manchester. They will be an autonomous practitioner who is able to work within an established MDT. They will have a level of expertise in this area and have a key role in the assessment and treatment for patients accessing a service within the SCMHT.

The core hours are Monday to Friday 9-5, although some flexibility will be considered.
Main duties of the job

  • To support individuals referred to secondary mental health services for assessment or ongoing care.

  • As a qualified Nurse, you will demonstrate and live the NMC values as identified in the Code of Practice.
  • Your post will include working with individuals using research-based interventions to promote their independence and recovery whilst maintaining high-quality clinical documentation.
  • This includes respecting individuality, values, cultures, and religious diversity of clients and colleagues, thus contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

    Job Responsibilities
  • To promote Positive Mental and Physical Health to individuals under the care of the service in all situations.
  • To ensure and support individuals to collaborate in the development of their recovery plans and structured care plans and treatment.
  • To assess, plan, and review in line with requirements of the Care Act (2014) and s117 of the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • To provide clinical supervision to members of the multidisciplinary team based on your clinical and professional knowledge.
  • To supervise junior members of staff in their clinical risk assessment and formulation of crisis and risk planning.
  • To promote recovery-focused care and interventions for individuals.
  • To ensure that all interactions and documentation are person-centred following the NHS guidance "No decision about me, without me."
  • To co-produce individualised recovery plans with the individuals, carer, or others identified by the Service User.
  • To promote and maintain a learning culture within the team which supports the professional effectiveness of clinical care.
  • To contribute to the delivery of multidisciplinary training including the induction of new staff, students, and trainees.

  • To provide specialist Mental Health Nursing interventions in the assessment, support, and recovery of individuals with severe mental health difficulties. These include but are not limited to Mental State Assessments, Social Care Assessments, Physical health care monitoring, Side effect profile monitoring, etc.
  • To ensure that all individuals have clear and accurate information regarding their care or the care of their loved ones.
  • Where required, to act up in the absence of the senior practitioner.
  • To seek out and participate in line management and clinical supervision.
  • Ensure, as far as practicable, the full involvement of individuals and their carers in the assessment, formulation, and review of their care plans.
  • To maintain high standards of clinical recording ensuring that information is always accurate, appropriate, and up to date.
