You will work closely with senior carers and report to the Care Home Manager. You’ll also collaborate with nurses, activities coordinators, and kitchen staff to ensure residents receive holistic support tailored to their needs, helping them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Care Assistant Responsibilities

Delivering personal care in line with each resident’s individual care plans. This might include helping with washing, dressing, grooming, and continence care.
Mobility support and assisting residents with moving and handling when necessary. This could include helping them with walking aids and wheelchairs.
Administering medication under supervision and keeping accurate records.
Monitoring the health of residents in your care and proactively reporting any concerns to senior staff.
Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance residents’ well-being and quality of life.
Supporting residents during meal times to ensure adequate nutrition and hydration to help them stay healthy.
Encouraging and assisting residents in participating in activities and social events in the care homes and on trips out.
Maintaining a safe and clean environment in accordance with care home policies and hygiene standards.

Essential Required Skills & Qualifications

Right to work in the UK.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate and patient approach to care.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.

Ideal

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Experience in a care home or healthcare setting.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and infection control.
A valid driver’s licence (for community-based roles).
