Patient care: You will take overall responsibility for all patients on your ward ensuring they are appropriately assessed, management plans are in place, and the care they receive is effective, compassionate, and of the best quality. You will regularly take charge of the ward and be responsible for supervising others and evaluating the care patients receive.

Information resources: You must document care given, supervise the documentation others record, and in adherence to the NMC standards for record keeping, ensure patient records are accurate.

Human Resources: As an NMC registrant, you will continue to develop yourself, support, mentor, supervise, and teach junior staff, including nursing assistants, pre and post-registration students, newly qualified nurses, and newly appointed staff. You will actively seek feedback on your performance, contribute to your appraisals, and provide constructive feedback to those you supervise. You will keep staff records up to date.

As a senior member of the ward team, you will develop a good understanding of HR processes in order to manage the performance of yourself, individuals, and the team.

Please see attached Job description and person specification for full details of roles and responsibilities. Act within the NMC guidelines, maintaining safe, patient-centred working.
