Job Overview
Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step in your career? The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our rotational programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of acute and community settings, gaining experience in diverse clinical areas while contributing to high-quality patient care.
You’ll be part of a supportive team delivering specialist OT services across multiple pathways, with rotations every 9 months in areas such as:

  • Acute Medicine and Surgery
  • Oncology and End of Life Care
  • Orthopaedics
  • A&E, Short Stay Wards and Frailty
  • Community Settings (EPUT/HCT)
    Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you’ll be working in an evolving integrated care environment.
    Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide specialist OT assessment and intervention for adults with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioural impairments.
  • Manage a complex caseload and contribute to leadership within your team.
  • Support safe and timely discharge planning through liaison with community teams.
  • Supervise and support junior staff, including Band 5 OTs and assistants.
  • Participate in audits, service development, and clinical governance activities.
  • Act as a practice educator for OT students and contribute to staff training.
  • Deliver advanced OT assessments and individualised treatment plans.
  • Prioritise caseloads and make timely referrals to appropriate services.
  • Demonstrate expert clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
  • Recommend and arrange specialist equipment and environmental adaptations.
  • Deputise for the Team Lead when required.
  • Provide supervision, appraisal, and support for junior staff.
  • Contribute to service development, audits, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
