Senior Occupational Therapist
We have an exciting opportunity for a rehabilitation focused Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Service on Welney Ward, Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely.
This position involves working with patients on our inpatient wards to support their transition out of the hospital, offering holistic clinical assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning, and specialist therapy knowledge.
Successful applicants will play a vital role in supporting patient flow through the pathways, as well as providing clinical skills and knowledge to the MDT. This position offers flexibility, variety, and the opportunity to be involved in the transformation of our inpatient rehabilitation service. You will be supported by a band 7 clinical lead.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working as an autonomous practitioner within the integrated multi-professional team.
  • Being responsible for your own caseload and undertaking assessments of patients with complex and multiple pathologies using specialist clinical reasoning skills.
  • Identifying patient needs, agreeing goals, and providing appropriate therapy interventions, adaptive equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and making recommendations for minor adaptations in line with current legislation.
  • Keeping the patient at the centre of care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision-making.
  • Providing support and education to peers, new staff, non-registered staff, and students.
  • Being accountable for a delegated caseload held by Band 5 Therapists and Assistant Practitioners.
  • Prioritising all patients’ tasks according to clinical need and allocating or signposting appropriately.
  • Providing a high standard of care.
  • Working in various community settings within CPFT as required, completing access and home visits.
