Position: Band 8a Clinical Psychologist

Sunflower House at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is looking to recruit a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to work in the Sunflower House Tier 4 mental health unit. The post holder will be welcomed into an experienced, supportive, and innovative Mental Health facility with opportunities to engage in further training, CPD, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a highly specialist Psychology service to children and young people, their families, and carers.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide specialist psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and young people referred to the service.
• Offer psychological consultation to other professionals involved in their care.
• Link with other professionals and agencies in the wider system to ensure integrated care provision across health, social care, and education services to optimize outcomes for young people and their families.
• Provide Trainee Psychologist placements.
• Undertake service development projects as agreed with the service manager and other clinical and management leads.

Qualifications:
The post is open to applied psychologists registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist. Applicants should hold the relevant professional qualifications and demonstrate a range of skills and expertise. Experience of working in a health setting (in-patient and out-patient) with individuals with complex mental health conditions is required. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.

We work closely with our multi-disciplinary colleagues and in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local authorities, other agencies, voluntary organizations, carers, and users of our services. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology doctoral training courses in the North West.
