Liverpool

Job Description

The Community Speech & Language Therapy team at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust works across the localities of Liverpool and Sefton. As part of our development, we have vacancies for Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapists based in Liverpool.

We are looking to grow our innovative community team, working in clinics, patients' homes, and nurseries/schools. We seek an enthusiastic and experienced clinician to join us in a permanent position.

This is a specialist post with opportunities to work across several clinical areas. Support from a range of highly specialist SLTs is in place, and access to external CPD courses is actively encouraged, along with opportunities to undertake research.

This post is based in the community, so there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to travel to and between various locations throughout the week.

If you are enthusiastic about improving the communication skills of children and empowering parents, carers, and educators to do so, we would welcome your application. Applications from candidates who are experienced B5 clinicians are welcome and may be considered for a development post with competencies for reaching the B6 level of practice within 6-12 months being agreed on commencement.

The successful candidate will work within the neighbourhood team of speech and language therapists to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to children in a variety of community settings including clinics, homes, schools, and nurseries.

We are looking for candidates who can assess and provide a range of therapeutic interventions using specialist knowledge to children with a variety of speech, language, and communication difficulties.

Caseloads are actively treated through our evidence-based care pathways, so hands-on therapy is part of the job. We also have access to Lyrebird, an AI package that supports our administrative tasks: patient records, therapy plans, and reports.

The team works collaboratively with other partner agencies and carers to enable them to understand the communication needs and to provide appropriate advice, support, and intervention.

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites. In collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics.
