Pay: £12.50 – £22.10 per hour, paid weekly

About the Role
Twenty Four Seven Nursing is recruiting Nursery Practitioners to work within an NHS Day Nursery in Steeton. This agency role involves working Band 2 shifts while supporting the delivery of high-quality childcare and early years education for children aged 0–4 years.
You will be part of a supportive NHS early years environment, helping to create a safe, caring and stimulating space that follows Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards and NHS values.

Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Learning

  • Support children’s physical, emotional, social and developmental needs.
  • Assist in delivering age-appropriate learning experiences through play in line with EYFS guidance.
  • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Support observations and developmental records when required.

Environment & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment in line with NHS policies.
  • Follow health and safety standards including manual handling and infection prevention and control.
  • Report accidents, incidents or equipment concerns to senior staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Communication & Teamwork

  • Build positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents/carers.
  • Adapt effectively to the routines of the NHS nursery environment.
  • Promote equality, diversity and non-discriminatory practice.
  • Follow all NHS policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Work within safeguarding policies to protect children and vulnerable individuals.
  • Follow EYFS, Ofsted and NHS standards at all times.
  • Complete all mandatory and statutory training relevant to the NHS nursery setting.

Requirements
Essential

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years / Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children aged 0–48 months in an early years or nursery setting.
  • Understanding of EYFS and basic Ofsted requirements.
  • Ability to provide inclusive, age-appropriate learning opportunities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain hygiene, safety and safeguarding standards.
  • Good literacy and numeracy.
  • Flexibility to work NHS Band 2 shifts in Steeton.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional practice.

Desirable

  • Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Safeguarding training.
  • Experience working within NHS childcare or supporting Ofsted inspections.
  • Experience mentoring students or junior staff.
