Job Title: Staff Nurse

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to support the team in delivering excellent patient care on Ward 18.

Ward 18 is a 23-bedded respiratory and general medicine ward. The successful candidates will care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and will be supported in gaining new knowledge around respiratory and general medicine. You will be encouraged to contribute to the continuous development of the ward and advancement in patient-centred care, as well as keen to progress in your knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support leadership on managing the ward as a senior staff nurse through shifts and delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Adhere to the infection and prevention control guidance and policies of each infectious disease.
  • Undertake the assessment and management of patients in a safe, effective, timely, and appropriate manner to maximize patient wellbeing.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Be accountable for patients assigned during the shift through documentation.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team with health and medical professionals to support and advocate for patients, ensuring they receive the best treatment and prevent delays.
  • Undertake the role of a mentor to support junior colleagues and students in their education.
  • Maintain trust policies and procedures with up-to-date training such as GDPR, BLS, and Safeguarding.
  • Document care in a clear, complete, and concise manner in accordance with trust policy.
  • Manage an increased number of patients and incorporate principles of time management into shift routine.
  • Appropriately assess the patient’s pain and involve the patient in effective management of that pain using appropriate interventions.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Interact with families and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge, informing them of hospital procedures.
