An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Senior Nurse to become the Senior Charge Nurse within Ward 102, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Ward 102 cares for older adults who require a period of assessment with the aim to always enable them to return to their own home setting in a timely efficient manner. The average stay for our patients is up to 3 days and is an integral part of the frailty pathway.

As the Senior Charge Nurse, you will play an essential role in the ongoing development and delivery of frailty services, ensuring a seamless, patient-centred approach to care. The post holder will be expected to:
Management experience and evidence of continuing professional development are essential. Excellent communication skills are a vital part of this senior post, as is a genuine interest and experience in care within a frailty/care of the elderly setting.
The position necessitates exceptional leadership skills to guide the nursing team in the safe and effective delivery of patient care. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the established ethos of the broader multidisciplinary team, striving towards the goal of a fully integrated and seamless patient pathway, driven by a goal-oriented frailty framework. Applicants should possess experience at Band 6 and must be able to demonstrate their leadership capabilities and their practical application in a clinical setting.
The Frailty service currently operates across four areas, with each senior charge nurse responsible for their own area. However, the expectation is that the post holder will provide cover in other areas within frailty as service demands require, ensuring equitable and safe staffing levels. Each area within the frailty pathway offers care to patients with varying levels of frailty, many requiring complex discharge planning including guardianship and cognitive impairment.
