Position: Dermatology Advanced Clinical Practitioner
We are looking for a Dermatology Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our team! We are recruiting for a 37.5 hour post, working Monday - Friday (part-time hours will be considered).
The role of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner is to work across professional boundaries, undertaking a variety of clinical duties within the context of the clinical team and to work within Dermatology. The Advanced Practitioner is required to work as an autonomous clinical professional. Within the multi-disciplinary team, the Advanced Practitioner will support the provision of high-quality patient-centered health care, identifying, assessing, diagnosing, and treating adults with various Dermatological conditions.
While this position is advertised as a Band 8a role, applicants who do not currently hold an MSc in Advanced Practice or equivalent qualification may be considered for a Band 7 to Band 8a development opportunity. In such cases, the role would begin as a temporary Band 7 post, with progression to a permanent Band 8a upon successful completion of the MSc qualification. This development pathway would be offered as a fixed-term contract for two years. If you are an internal candidate or employed by another NHS Trust, secondment approval from your current line manager would be required. Please ensure approval is obtained prior to applying, as it will be a condition of any offer made.
Please note that this vacancy may close early. Depending on your knowledge, skills, and experience, you will be a key member of the Dermatology Outpatient Team, providing expert clinical advice to support accurate clinical judgment in the diagnosis, ongoing assessment, decision-making, treatment, and management of dermatology patients within the setting. You will lead the clinical development of the dermatology service in partnership with the Consultant team, contributing expertise in clinical governance and supporting the educational growth of colleagues. Advanced Practice in dermatology is delivered by experienced, registered healthcare practitioners, involving a high degree of autonomy and complex decision-making, underpinned by a master’s level qualification or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. This includes demonstrating core capabilities and clinical competence specific to dermatology. The post holder will proactively advance the role by applying lessons learned from both the educational programme and practical clinical experience, aiming to improve patient outcomes by enhancing access to dermatology services.
