Main duties of the job
Are you looking for your next challenge in a rewarding, forward thinking environment? Ward E5 Lower GI ward within University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Charge Nurse/ Sister to join our established senior leadership team.
E5 Lower GI is an 18 bedded ward that gains enormous satisfaction in driving high standards of care for patients that have undergone pioneering surgery and thrives on the challenge to constantly improve their patient’s experience from admission to a successful discharge.
We are a proud spirited team who always put the patient first, building trusting relationships with our longer term patients and their families. The team utilise recovery pathways and include the best evidence which aims to optimise outcomes and improve patient’s experience. As a team, our aim is to empower patients to become partners in their care by giving them the information needed every step of the way.
The successful candidate will work within the senior team, oversee and manage their own team and will report to the ward leader and matron team.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, your skills as a senior role model will be pivotal in supporting the personal and professional development of the ward nursing team with the support of your ward manager. You will ensure that quality agendas are being met, making certain that your team are delivering safe, effective, timely care in a caring and supportive way. The role makes certain care pathways for this patient group are delivered by a skilled workforce to sustain that positive patient experience.
We are looking for a person with a positive proactive leadership style, a team player who is passionate about developing staff so they in turn deliver a high standard of patient care.
You must have at least 18 months post qualifying experience in a relevant acute hospital speciality, with the aptitude and skill necessary to lead and motivate a team of nurses, working closely with the MDT.
