Job Description

We are looking for thoughtful, compassionate and innovative Specialist Clinical Psychologists working into the NHS Children and Young People Gender Service (South West) - CYPGS SW, who will also work within wider Psychological Health Services.

CYPGS SW is provided by a large Multi-disciplinary team (MDT). As part of this team, the specialist clinical psychologists will work to develop, deliver, and evaluate interventions and the service. Psychologists working in the CYPGS SW are supported through supervision and, along with the team, will participate in training to develop knowledge and skills to deliver the work.

As well as providing services into CYPGS SW, specialist clinical psychologists will have other clinical and professional roles depending on skills, interests, and service demands. This post offers opportunity for professional development and offers a variety of clinical work.

  • To provide therapeutic services primarily into CYPGS SW, and also into paediatric medical and/or surgical specialties involving direct and indirect clinical work.
  • To provide psychological services including assessment, formulation, and implementation of psychological interventions for children/young people, adults, and their families.
  • To deliver these services in ward-based and out-patient settings as needed.
  • Provision of psychological advice, consultation, training, and support for other professionals working across this care pathway as assigned.
  • Support with development and evaluation of the services.
  • To propose changes for service development, guidelines, and protocols relevant to psychological health across these care pathways.
