Vacancy Job Title: Freelance Specialist Mentor (Mental Health)
Location: Durham University
Hourly Rate or Salary: £30
Contract Type: Freelance/Self employed
Hours Available: Up to 25 per week. Self-managed, predominantly Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

What are KEYFORT looking for:
KEYFORT works in close partnership with numerous Universities and Further Education Colleges, providing a comprehensive range of academic and community support packages to students. We put the student at the centre of the support they receive, encouraging independence and aiming to fulfil their ambitions and aspirations. We are looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic, and committed Mentors who have specific experience of working with individuals with Mental Health conditions. You will be providing a high-quality, responsive service which aims to remove barriers that prevent students from participating in higher and further education.

What would you be doing in your role:
You will be working within Durham University that KEYFORT works in partnership with. An expectation of the role will be creating a comprehensive workplan and providing support to students as stipulated in the assessment remit. You will provide expertise in the area of study to help students develop their learning strategies.

Essential Criteria:
You must be able to deliver face-to-face study support. We can potentially look to the provision of remote study support with students at their request, if there is demand and agreements in place for this delivery method.

Mandatory Qualifications:
As per guidelines, you MUST have one of the below:

  • Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) - Full member.
  • The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) - Accredited membership.
  • The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - Registered Member (MBACP)
  • Accredited Member (MBACP – Accred’)
  • British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) - Under a member institution - Practitioners become registrants of the BPC through their membership of one of their member institutions.
  • British Psychological Society (BPS) - Chartered Member (CPsychol)/IAPT register/ Graduate Member (MBPsS) with a PG qualification in Psychology or Mental Health.
  • Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA) – Accredited (Other UK Professional body) Counsellor/Psychotherapist Member of COSCA.
  • Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners (FDAP) - National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate (NCAC)
  • General Medical Council (GMC) - Psychiatry – Full member or above.
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - Education and training programmes approved as a route to registration - Arts Therapist/ Occupational Therapist/ Practitioner Psychologist/ Social Worker in England
  • Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) - Accredited member
  • National Counselling Society (NCS) –
    • Accredited Registrants (MNCS Accred).
    • Accredited Professional Registrant (MNCS Prof Accred).
    • Senior Accredited Registrant status (MNCS Snr Accred).
    • NCS Fellowship (FNCS).
  • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - Mental Health Nurse/ Community Mental Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse
  • Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
  • Social Care Wales (SCW)
  • Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) - Full clinical individual member
  • The University Mental Health Advisers Network (UMHAN) – UMHAN mentor member. (N.B. UMHAN accreditation routes are now closed).
  • Association of Christian Counsellors (UK) - Accredited Counsellor

You must provide evidence of the above mandatory criteria before an interview is granted.
