An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Perioperative Disposal Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic team in the Main Theatre Suite at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Main Theatres is a busy environment, hosting 17 Operating Theatres with a mix of both elective and emergency surgery. The post holder is required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which runs over a 7 day week.

We are currently seeking an individual to join our Perioperative Disposal Instrument Team. This is an essential role in the effective running of the theatre department. The post holder will be non-patient facing and work within the department to maintain an efficient source and supply of instruments in accordance with the service requirements.

This post will have various duties including:

  • Assisting with the preparation and packing of used surgical instrumentation ready for transportation to our Central Decontamination Unit for processing
  • Ensuring Theatre disposal areas are clean and well stocked

You must demonstrate that you have a keen interest in working in this area and understand what this means. You must be willing and able to learn; possessing skills in a similar area would be advantageous. You must also be physically fit and have excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to meet the demands of the service and have the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.

We are looking for a motivated & enthusiastic individual who is capable of working in a team but can also work independently without supervision.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

We envision a high volume interest for these posts and may have to close the application date earlier than expected.
