Main duties of the job
The South East Neurosciences and Trauma Strategic Network is seeking a Spinal Surgery Clinical Lead to lead the newly established SE Spinal Surgery Operational Delivery Network (ODN).

The regional Spinal Surgery ODN is a new regional network bringing together 3 geographic networks into one. This regional clinical lead role is pivotal in this newly created regional ODN; leading this new network requires the post holder to facilitate cross Speciality, cross Trust and cross ICB collaboration within the field of Spinal Surgery.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

• Provides professional and clinical leadership across the relevant Operational Delivery Network (ODN).
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team; leading the strategic and operational development of a coherent and effective network.
• Delivery of a programme of work that addresses national and local priorities.

Additional Information
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003. Proposed interview date: 23rd December 2025. This vacancy closes on or before 9th December 2025.

Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential criteria

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Appropriate knowledge base, and Specialist training in relevant area
• Experience working within the specialty at a senior level
• Experience working across organisational boundaries in the Health Service achieving collective success and demonstrates listening, respect and learning from the contribution for others.
• Knowledge and experience of working in formal clinical networks within the NHS
• Clinical governance and risk management concepts and techniques

Desirable criteria

• Management qualification
• Senior leadership experience in the NHS at Trust level e.g. departmental or divisional lead clinician or GP principal if pathways extend to primary care
• Knowledge of service improvement tools and techniques
• Understanding of commissioning and contracting function and processes
