The post holder will provide specific assessments and psychotherapeutic treatment to children and young people and their families. In addition to employing specialist skills within individual care plans, all team members support and participate within core shared rotas (duty/referral screening, urgent risk assessment and initial assessments) in addition to providing up-to-date outcome data (CORC).

Providing community based psychotherapeutic services to children & young people and their families who are referred to the YP-CED team:

  • Working as part of the YP-CED Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • The post holder will provide assessment and appropriate interventions to individuals with eating disorders. This should be in accordance with NICE guidance.
  • To offer advice, support and supervision to other health care professionals.
  • To act as Care Co-ordinator for Eating Disorder Service clients, as appropriate.
  • To spend the main proportion of time engaged in or related to clinical activity.

The number of sessions apportioned to clinical work, research, supervision, professional and team meetings, teaching or training and continuing professional development will be agreed with the Team Leader.

  • Deliver a variety of care and evidence based treatment interventions, on a one to one, family and group basis to promote recovery from eating disorders as deemed appropriate to the service area by the specialist team in partnership with children and young people with an ED and families/carers.
  • In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team develop pathways and share with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and wider young people and families mental health service (BEEU).
  • Establish and maintain strong links with members of BEEU, General Practice, schools, colleges, paediatric services, other healthcare settings, other professionals / workers and non-healthcare workers (e.g. sports coaches and dance teachers) for own caseload, thereby ensuring seamless short, medium and long term care planning for both medical and psychological care and treatment of each individual service user.
  • To provide assessment and appropriate interventions to individuals with eating disorders. This should be in accordance with NICE guidance for Eating Disorders (2017).
  • To collaborate with the Clinical Lead in respect of overall service provision and caseload requirements of the Team.
  • The post holder will manage a caseload of clients with Eating Disorders, and possible co morbidities within the community.
  • To take the lead in clinical case meetings Safeguarding, TAC, Early Help and CPA reviews to ensure the needs of children and young people with an Eating Disorder and their families/carers are addressed to support their recovery.
