We are looking for a Musculoskeletal Clinical Governance Lead to support our quality and Clinical Governance functions. The responsible individual will lead on focused quality improvement tasks and collaborate with the MSK service to continuously improve the quality of clinical service, patient safety, patient experience, and satisfaction. Using data-driven insight and improvement methodology, you will be responsible for evaluating quality and presenting opportunities for quality improvement projects.

The Musculoskeletal Clinical Governance Lead will also promote a culture of learning, accountability, and patient-centeredness within both the Quality and Clinical Governance Team and our in-house Musculoskeletal service. Your success will ensure that we provide high-quality services delivering the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:
As Musculoskeletal Clinical Governance Lead, you will be responsible for the implementation and development of Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement/Management activities, including:

  • Supporting strategy development and implementation within the area of responsibility by proposing policy and service changes to enhance clinical governance and quality.
  • Leading the development and production of quality and safety reports.
  • Providing detailed and specialised Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance/Management advice to healthcare professionals to positively influence service delivery.
  • Representing the Quality and Clinical Governance Team, providing expert guidance and specialist knowledge based on theory and experience.
  • Proactively analysing and utilising complex data to identify areas for continuous improvement and developing initiatives to support and drive the quality agenda. Exploring complex data to present various options for the advancement of Clinical Governance activities and designing data capture systems to measure and provide evidence of improvement.
  • Leading on complaint and incident investigations, and complaint responses to support service excellence.
  • Identifying, coordinating and leading continual improvement projects throughout the organisation with the aim to reduce risk, improve patient outcomes and meet key internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Aiding the Quality & Clinical Governance Director & Senior Compliance Manager with ISO9001 internal audits.
  • Improving the visibility and understanding of Quality Improvement across the organisation and encouraging colleague engagement.
  • Utilising and contributing to the Quality Assurance and Improvement Group, ensuring any recommendations or actions are communicated effectively to the wider business.
  • Performing root cause analysis where issues arise, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with colleagues across the organisation.
  • Implementing any corrective actions as necessary.
  • Analysing dashboard and patient feedback data to identify trends/themes and working collaboratively with the MSK team to identify any actions required.
  • Providing leadership on patient experience and involvement, ensuring patient feedback informs continuous improvement.
  • Supporting with Audit function and Framework review.

Qualifications:

  • Physiotherapist as a core profession
  • MSK experience
  • Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement experience and training

Experience and knowledge:

  • Knowledge and experience of driving improvement in the quality of MSK services.
  • Significant experience of working within musculoskeletal services.
  • Experience of leading significant projects that have led to quantifiable improvements.
  • Experience of undertaking complaint investigations, complaint response writing and formulating action plans.
  • Experience of Quality Improvement methodology and approaches in Physiotherapy.
  • Well-developed decision-making and change management skills.
  • Highly developed inter-personal, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance/Management Systems, Risk Management, Clinical Effectiveness, or Standards Review and/or development.
  • Experience in continual improvement, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and risk management.
  • Experience in collating and analysing data to identify trends.
  • Ability to present data for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evidence of implementing innovative solutions in partnership with colleagues, designed to improve services.
  • Evidence of acting in ways that support equality and value diversity in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures, and good practice.
  • A good understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding Processes.
