This is an exciting opportunity to join Liverpool City Council’s (LCC) Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). Liverpool is one of only 30 councils across the UK pioneering this new investment from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) into local government, the programme commenced in January 2024 and will run for a period of 5 years.

HDRC Liverpool will boost research capacity and capability within LCC. It is a transformational change programme aimed to embed a culture of always using evidence when making decisions. There will be a central focus on reducing health inequalities and evaluating action to improve the conditions in which people in Liverpool live, work and play which have a huge influence on our health and wellbeing. This will lead to overall improvements in health outcomes and a narrowing of the health divide within the city.

HDRC Liverpool is led by Liverpool City Council but is a partnership between the Council, the University of Liverpool (UoL), Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), Liverpool Healthwatch and Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Service (LCVS) and our local communities.

This is a strategic role to lead on the development and delivery of the data component of the research projects that will be undertaken as part of Liverpool City Council’s Health Determinants Research Collaborative (HDRC) programme over the next three years. The role will oversee the analytical functions of the programme both within the Council and with the lead of the Data Integration Working Group based at University of Liverpool, as well as across the data deliverables for all partners and broader Programme Working Groups. Data integration with partners will be a key component of the role to support the research on the social, economic, and environmental determinants of health.

The Role:

• As the HDRC Strategic Data Integration Lead you will have a strong understanding of local government services, including knowledge of the types of data that the council and partners hold.
• Our HDRC Strategic Data Integration Lead will have an understanding of advanced analytical techniques (e.g., machine learning, predictive analytics) and how they can be applied to, and benefit, research projects.
• In the role as HDRC Strategic Data Integration Lead you will have experience of working collaboratively, both internally across teams and functions and with external partners to develop shared solutions.
• You, the HDRC Strategic Data Integration Lead must have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work on multiple complex projects at the same time and manage conflicting priorities and competing deadlines.

This role is fixed term for the purpose of reducing health inequalities for the people of Liverpool and will end 31st December 2028.
