We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester.
HMP Winchester is a male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant to support the wider pharmacy team with tasks such as witnessing second checking, stock checking, invoicing, etc. This will be a patient-facing role.
Hours

• 4 days a week
• 07:30-17:30
  Currently, there will be no weekend working; however, this will change in the future to a 7-day operation where you will need to work weekends, bank holidays, and over the Christmas period on a rota basis.
  Salary
  This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

  Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
  What you'll be doing
  As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
• Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
• Work as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
• Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
• Receive prescriptions and stock returns from wing-based clinical areas
• Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns
• Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

  Qualifications required
• NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
• Medicines handling experience desirable but not essential
• Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and IT literacy
• Ability to work within a busy environment
• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
